Ever hear someone say, “oh you’re just a mom?!” Moms do more than most do. We are problem solvers, alarm clocks, therapists, cab drivers, teachers, chefs, maids, school volunteers, nurses, boo boo fixers, all while trying to be the best most positive role models for our little ones. This is my favorite ‘job’ I’ve ever had. It’s the hardest but definitely the most rewarding.

With a house full of boys, I wanted to make myself a very girly pretty pink cake! It’s actually a lot easier than you think. It probably is easier to make a video, but I still think my squeaky Elmo like Boston accent voice sounds weird, haha. So here’s a go-to blog about it. Maybe I’ll do a video in the future. And yes I made the cake myself. My husband didn’t. And no I’m not mad, I enjoyed making this. I suck at cooking but really enjoy baking. It’s more fun. A pregnant girl who loves cake! High 5!
What you’ll need:
- 1 box of cake mix
- Frosting piping bag or a big storage plastic bag
- Frosting spatula or butter knife
- A few bowls and dye for your frosting
Add frosting to your piping bag, with your lightest color first. I didn’t add a piping tip, I just cut off the tip of the bag. Make a line around the top of the cake. Then add another line right underneath it. It’s ok if it messy, you’ll fix it later.
Once you’re done, take your clean spatula and get all the access frosting off without taking off too much. Keep going until your whole cake is smooth and blended. You’ll start to see your ombre blending. It’s suppose to be little off so don’t worry about it being perfect.
